Business for Social Change

The attached PDF comes from a Philanthropy Insert in the publication Business in Vancouver. It talks about the increasing trend toward social enterprise - i.e., nonprofit organizations using revenue generation strategies to further their mission.
This article is particularly important to us because it speaks about the successes of the BC-based Enterprising Non-Profits (enp) program. Enp is a micro-granting program that provides small amounts of funds ($3,000-$10,000) to nonprofit organizations so that they can hire the support they need to develop viable business strategies. CSI is looking to bring the enp program to Toronto in 2008, and we're two-thirds toward our goal of raising $100,000. If you're keen to learn more, drop me a note.
