CSI spotlight: Fraser Los/Greenpages

In our ongoing series of profiles of CSI members, today we feature Fraser Los of the greenpages and Alternative Journal, two amazing online environmental resources for people interested in progressive journalism and environmental resources.

1) How long have you been a CSI member?
Although I've only been here since May 1, CSI has already made a very positive impression.

2) What's the best part of being at CSI?
The best part of CSI is no doubt the great and diverse group of friendly people working here - I instantly felt at home.

3) What has being at CSI meant for your organization/business?
As the associate editor for Alternatives Journal, a national environmental magazine, and a contributing editor with thegreenpages, an online environmental news portal, I'm always looking to make connections with people at the vanguard of environmental issues and social justice. Being at CSI is not only a great work environment, it's a gold mine of potential research and stories.

4) What are you working on right now?
I'm working on linking Alternatives and thegreenpages.ca even closer, with the recently launched greenbookreviews.ca (a website that features the newest and best in environmental book reviews) as well as Alternatives' annual issue on Environmental Education (on newsstands in August).

5) Have you collaborated with other CSI members on projects, and if so, can you share an example or two?
Alternatives Journal has collaborated with the Sustainability Network, holding a panel on green energy options last January, along with a forum and interview (July 8) with "The New Entrepreneurs" author Andrew Heintzman, conducted by the Alternatives' editor-in-chief Nicola Ross.

6) Tell us something that other CSI members might not know about you.
Alternatives Journal is coming up to its 40th anniversary next year - we've been published since 1971! A partnership with thegreenpages.ca - in the business of posting environmental news and stories online since the late 90s - was the best way to dive into the growing world of web publishing.
