Deal Flow, social investment and ever greater appreciation for the UK

So I've been hearing a lot about 'deal flow' recently, which sounds a little bit too slick for my liking but it is too accurate and important to dismiss. Mostly, it's been a question of whether or not there is sufficient deal flow here in Toronto/Ontario/Canada to justify new investment/instruments to support the social enterprise sector. Of course, this is really a two-way street...the more investment opportunities the more deals that will find their way to the surface, and (hopefully) vice versa.

But the UK gives us all something to shoot for with Good Deals: The First National Social Investment Conference. In the words of the promo:

"Brought to you by the Office of the Third Sector in partnership with NESTA, Good Deals is the must attend event for both those who need to find finance to help their social enterprise develop and grow - and for those looking to invest in innovative ideas for creating social change."

So hooray for UK Deal Flow and here's hoping that we'll be in the same boat in a few short years. Have a look at http://www.good-dealsuk.com/ for more info....
