Directory of Social Enterprises in GTA

This directory is posted with the kind permission of Aperio, CSI tenant and social sector consultants extraordinaire. Created in 2007, the directory was designed to support the Social Entrepreneurship Course at Schulich School of Business, York University.

Though social enterprise is an increasingly popular concept within business and community organizations, its broad definitions lead to many questions about who actually qualifies as a social enterprise. The attached directory proposes a broad definition of social enterprise, one that includes any organization or initiative that attempts to advance its social mission within a market-based business model. As such, the directory allows for both non-profit and for-profit entities to fall under the umbrella of "social enterprise".
