Help create an enabling environment for social enterprise in Canada
The Canadian Conference on Social Enterprise is fast approaching and we hope that many of you will be able to join us on Nov 18-20. In preparation and for those that are unable to attend, we want to invite you to have your input into the crafting of a National Policy Agenda for Social Enterprise.
The social enterprise wiki is a project that has been incubated by the Centre for Social Innovation as an extension of our commitment to social enterprise. It is a direct result of the work of the B.C. Social Enterprise Forum (spearheaded by Enterprising Nonprofits BC) and a range of other stakeholders. The project was quickly adopted by the Social Enterprise Council of Canada as a way to consolidate our efforts and to galvanize the sector around a coordinated policy framework to enable social enterprise in Canada. The tent is widening with others have joined the efforts including http://socialfinance.ca, Causeway, MaRS and many others are contributing to the development of this framework.
We would like to invite you to participate and contribute as well – we want to make sure that the policy framework reflects your needs and interests as social enterprise leaders.
To learn more about the different social enterprise initiatives that are in the works, see Tonya Surman's blog on the topic) The quick and dirty is that they all lead to us to a shared need to get some agreement on what we would like to see in Canada to create an enabling environment for social enterprise to thrive. The government seems interested... the community is keen... now we have to get pen to paper and come together around our 'ask'. To have your say, go to http://socialenterprise.wik.is, register and start typing.
