Tag, You're It

Red Rover, Handball, Tag, Capture the Flag, Scrabble, Connect4, Go Fish, or Euchre. Depending on where you went to school and the innumerable other influences we encounter at a young age, most of us are familiar with at least one of the above games. We would play them at recess, after school, or on rainy Saturdays. Regardless of when we played them, these games were a chance for us to take a break from learning or doing, and have a bit of laugh-until your-insides-hurt fun.

Annahid Dashtgard, Executive Director of Anima Leadership, has introduced a games lunch every other Thursday here at CSI. The idea was inspired by a games night she hosted at home for friends. Annahid couldn't believe how eager friends were to play all the old games, and just how easy the feelings of play swept back over everyone.

The things that make games lunch at CSI so much fun are really some of the same things that made playing games as a kid so much fun and so effective. We're all here to get work done, but a one hour games lunch allows us to step outside the day-to-day tasks and chat with some great folks. When we return to our desks, we're ready to do good work, and we're probably giggling a bit more than we were when we left.

Thanks Annahid. I think there are 20 or so folk who are a little more excited to go back to work this afternoon.
