A Social Enterprise Trend?

Well, it looks like we're on a roll! The Toronto Star has just run an editorial calling for changes to the Canadian tax law "with a view to finding new mechanisms to encourage investments in these worthwhile social enterprises." Clearly, Paul Martin has made an impact with his recent speeches and op-ed promotions of social enterprise. Irrespective of any immediate government action, the mere fact that Canada's largest circulation has helped put the words "social enterprise" on the public radar is a boon for the sector...

CSI Members help launch Media Technology Lab

Media Lab Toronto is a group of local folks who are experimenting with the possibilities where technology, art and media overlap. There's a lot there and theyplan to make some interesting stuff. Members include CSI's very own Gabe Sawhney and Patrick Dinnen.

The group's first installation was TXTris, a 3D txt message wall at the Toronto CaseCamp6 event. Future project ideas include physical objects as computer interface, morse-code installations and radio tagged raccoon art.
