Discover Wondereur - New iPad experience brings art up close and personal

It started inside the ivy-covered walls of CSI Annex. A Toronto start-up has created a ground-breaking interactive experience to change the way art is discovered and purchased online.

A hybrid of digital art magazine and pop-up virtual gallery, Wondereur brings art up close and personal. Each week, Wondereur unveils a story and a storefront for a new contemporary artist, and gives readers three weeks to discover their life and work. Wondereur is available now to iPad owners via the Apple App Store.

The creation of a cross-disciplinary team

Wondereur is put together by a team of journalists, designers and entrepreneurs who are passionate about making art accessible. The team’s goal is to demonstrate that everyone can enjoy a relationship to art, regardless of their previous art knowledge.

Leading figures in local art scenes agree to be Wondereur's talent spotters, finding and endorsing artists who are under the radar. Wondereur invites the artists to submit work for display in the storefront and autobiographical material to feature in the story.

From there, it's up to the members of Wondereur's editorial and design departments. They shape the artist's autobiographical material, the talent spotter's insights, an in-depth artist interview and documentary-style photography into a compelling photo essay.
