Recipe for Change St-Lawrence Market Thursday March 1st

Last year, a good friend of mine gave me two tickets to the Annual FoodShare Fundraising Event. Now, I'm on the Board.

Annual fundraiser can sound like a bit of a snorefest but not this one. Recipe for Change is an event I'd want to go to even if it were not a fundraiser for FoodShare. It's quite simply one of the most delightful events on Toronto's Food Calendar. That someone can attend and then actually write half of the price of the ticket off their taxes is sheer gravy. This is a must-go shindig. And here's why.

If you like food, if you like variety, if you like wine, if you dig beer, then this event has it all. Once you're in, you're in. Keep your wallet in a safe place, and just begin to enjoy. Sample wines from wineries across the province. Sample beers from craft beer companies and the bigger breweries alike. Get a feel for the city's chefs who participate. View the chefs and menus here: http://www.foodshare.net/RFC/recipe-for-change-1.htm#menu

But it's the food, the food, that will really turn your head. Thirty chefs and food producers in the city will have set up stalls in the north market at St. Lawrence Market. All you have to do is say, "please" and "thank-you" and the most exquisite delights will be put on your plates. And unlike FoodStock, which ran out of food about half way through the event, the chefs here are well-stocked and well-supplied. And the food is something to behold.

Do not eat lunch. Do not snack in the afternoon. Do not book an early morning meeting. Find yourself a date (in front of whom you are completely unshy about eating), put on your favourite frock or your swankiest suit and get ready to be culinarily delighted.

A word of advice: your first round, sample what looks delectable, leave the rest for the second round. Second round, taste whatever was amazing the first round and your second choices (if you still have enough room).

Seriously, this event is not to be missed.

Tickets are $125/head. But you can write off nearly half of that because this event is a fundraiser for FoodShare. How cool is that?

I really hope you'll join me.

If you'd like to, you can purchase your tickets from me or online (see the advert here attached).

See you next Thursday evening!
