Greenest City is a community-based charitable organization dedicated to
building healthy, inclusive neighbourhoods through community gardening and
the celebration of food. We do this by engaging participants of all ages in
hands-on programs that build community, develop skills and knowledge,
promote active and healthy choices, and create opportunities for social and
environmental change.
Job Description
The Board of Directors of Greenest City is seeking a dynamic, passionate and
results-oriented Executive Director to guide and build on its recent growth and
success. The ideal candidate will possess the skills and interest to continue to
build a strong organizational foundation, to lead and develop staff, and have a
vision for future growth and development.
The Executive Director is responsible for providing excellent overall management
and leadership of Greenest City.
Key Responsibilities

. Guide the design, implementation, evaluation and direction of programs.
. Work with the Board on strategic planning and the implementation of
existing strategic directives.
. Work with the Board to create an operating budget and to monitor and
maintain the financial health of the organization.
. Lead Greenest City's fundraising efforts to enhance the financial
sustainability of the organization. This includes grant writing, building
individual and corporate support and managing funder relationships.
. Recruit, select, train, empower, inspire, manage and evaluate staff.
. Build Greenest City's reputation and be a compelling public voice for our
goals.
. Oversee the communications needs of the organization, including the
development of resources, the management of designer relationships
and the creation of an organizational communications plan.
. Reach out to, engage and empower diverse communities to participate
in programs and the organization.
Qualifications:

. Five years professional experience in an NGO management role
. Proven ability to secure and grow funding
. Experience in working with diverse client populations which may include
new Canadians, mental health consumer/survivors, and youth-at-risk
. Experience and training in human resource and financial management
. Experience in initiating, planning, implementing and evaluating programs
. Excellent facilitation and community development skills
. Highly motivated, resourceful and passionate - demonstrated
commitment to issues of environmental, social and economic justice
. Demonstrated ability to connect to and work within diverse communities
. A positive and kind way with staff, participants and partners
. Outstanding writing and interpersonal skills
. Interest in food security, sustainable communities and youth development
. Ability to speak a language relevant to the South Parkdale
neighbourhood considered an asset
Salary: $50,000 to $55,000 annually

This is a full-time position based out of our office in Parkdale. Some evening and
weekend work is expected in order to connect with program participants and
to attend meetings (with the Board and community).
