Frontline Partners with Youth Network (FPYN) developed in early December 2005 as an expression of the heartfelt need among frontline workers to connect with each other with and support each other in dealing with the effects of violence. They are a network of people who work directly with youth in all sectors including youth justice, housing, addictions, education, mental health, recreation, arts, employment - across the GTA. Since joining with the Centre for Social Innovation as an incubated project, FPYN has grown exponentially. The most recent grant from Laidlaw is allowing FPYN to continue its important work while expanding its scope and impact. The network is now offering free and low cost trainings, discussion groups, support, tons of information sharing and policy work.
Most recently, FPYN received the Community Mobilization Award from its first funder the Provincial Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health at CHEO. "Frontline Systems of Support" will ultimately help FPYN to appropriately address trauma and grief experienced by people working directly with youth in Toronto.
