Petra Kassun-Mutch (Toronto, ON) Current: Entrepreneur in Residence, University of Guelph CME; Serial Entrepreneur, Founder of Zugunruhe (Advocacy for Social Enterprise). Past: Former Artisan Dairy Founder/Owner/Operator & Past Publishing Executive; Expertise: Entrepreneurship, start up coaching, social enterprise design, public speaking, business planning & operations management, brand development and communications. After 18 years in progressive positions in the publishing industry in Canada and the US, and after 7 years as President of McGraw Hill Ryerson’s Higher Education Division in Canada, Petra left her corporate career to pursue her dream of starting a social purpose enterprise in a rural community. Her venture, the Fifth Town Artisan Cheese Company was incorporated in 2004 and by 2009 had become a leading example of a social and sustainable enterprise in Ontario. After leaving Fifth Town in 2011, Petra decided to deepen her commitment to entrepreneurship as a vocation as well as building a vibrant social enterprise sector in Ontario. Her newest social enterprise advocacy venture is called The Zugunruhe Project. Petra has a B. A Honours from Carleton University (Mass Communications/Journalism) and EMBA for University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.

Why I do what I do:

My passions include designing, launching and growing companies, and in particular, focusing on organizations with a social purpose or sustainable enterprise design. I enjoy leading, brand development, sales, and marketing. I am particularly interested in innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainable enterprise design, our food production system and how it needs to change, plus more recently, international and first nations economic development.
