Ambitious City

Any city can be an ambitious city. An ambitious city is one that has ambitions for itself; ambitions not just for more material goods or for increased social status, but to be known as a city for deep social integration of a diverse population, for a high quality of life for all its citizens, for design excellence, and most of all for imagination. Ambitious City has the goal of facilitating and encouraging imagination in the domain of urban design. We do this by considering what the problems and issues that cities face are and then addressing them in an especially creative way. We don’t attempt to be sober or constrained with our urban ideas. The ambitious city is a venue for explosive creativity, for random combinations, for chance meetings. Anything can happen and anything does. The urban future may seem bright or dark; utopian or dystopian. The one thing for sure is that our urban future is going to be much different from what we see today. Ambitious City sees our urban future, foremost, as an act of collective imagination.
