Dance Our Way Home

Dance Our Way Home (DOWH) is a woman's holistic practice of free-style dance, relaxation, guided imagery and life-affirming teachings, held within a safe and non-judgemental context of personal and collective healing, empowerment and community-building. DOWH has been offering dance and movement workshops to women in the GTA for the last 10 years, having been born out of body image group at Sheena’s Place, a support organization for people with disordered eating and body image issues. Despite clear evidence of the strength and efficacy of an embodied approach to individual, group and social change, dance and movement are the least utilised of the expressive arts healing modalities. The Community Outreach component of DOWH was initiated in 2010 with the expressed intent of growing the reach of the positive, change-oriented practice and increase its accessibility so that all groups of women, especially those marginalised by their circumstances, could explore an embodied healing and community-building.
