casaGURU [the ‘house experts’ project] has a single goal – to help Canadian home buyers, sellers and owners from hiring house professionals that do not have and maintain proper training, licensing and professional insurance. The project is in its 3rd year and has garnered both national and regional media commendation, including CTV’s Canada AM, Toronto Star and Global TV News, for our commitment to helping homeowners to make smarter hiring decisions. At the core of our offering is Canada's database of over 26 types of house professionals - from home stagers to plumbers and energy advisors to realtors - that have proper credentials. We audit professionals annually and make our database publicly available through www.casaGURU.com and a series of web portals that cater to homeowners. Unlike other online resources, such as the Yellow Pages, casaGURU is not an advertising medium for house professionals. Professionals can’t pay to be added to our database and may not advertise on our site, and only those that meet and maintain their credentials are added to the database. We reject all others. Our site meets its costs with banner advertising from reputable house brands and that helps us to offer our protective services to homeowners for free.
