Independent Communications Designer
Design for a better, more beautiful world
Una's work is inspired by people's struggles and revolutionary geometry. She brings a feminist, anti-oppression, and social & environmental justice perspective to her work, along with many years of experience creating alternative media. In 2001 Una cofounded big boots, the first zine for women and trans people of colour. She is currently in the process of establishing the Social Design Lab, a program that will pair new designers with non-profits to work on justice-seeking initiatives. Una was a founding partner of The Public, an activist design and advertising studio. Prior to that, she worked at Pylon, a top Toronto studio, where she was a lead designer on numerous award-winning projects in the architecture, interior design, legal, and fashion industries. Her love of teaching social design has led her to lecture and facilitate workshops around the world. Una holds a diploma in Graphic Design from George Brown College and a BA in History and Political Science from the University of Toronto.
