Institute On Governance

The IOG’s vision is to be the pre-eminent, independent Canadian source of knowledge, research and advice on governance and its continuous improvement. For 20 years we have been committed to exploring, developing and promoting the principles, standards and practices which underlie good governance in the public sphere, both in Canada and abroad. To date, the IOG has undertaken over 1000 projects in Canada and 35 countries. The IOG works with a wide range of clients and partners, including governments, communities, charities and public organizations across 6 areas: Modernizing Government; Crown and Organizational Governance; Aboriginal Governance; Building Strong Partnerships; Health and Innovation; and International Governance. The IOG provides the following services: • policy-relevant applied research • advisory services (including strategic planning, accountability, evaluation and performance reporting and organizational structure) • professional development and capacity-building through courses in decision making and public administration • designs and facilitates multi-stakeholder meetings/events and provides speakers. Building on the experience generated by our research and advisory services, IOG creates, shares and applies knowledge about decision making through the Governance Laboratory. The IOG offers a combination of scheduled courses, customized versions of any of our scheduled courses and several additional learning programs on request.
