Investing In Neighbourhoods – Eligibility Criteria:

To apply for job opportunities through the Investing in Neighbourhoods Program, interested candidates must be OW participants living in Toronto. Investing in Neighbourhoods job opportunities are in not for profit community organizations and enable OW participants to: increase their skill level, develop contacts with employers, and obtain references with the goal of securing permanent employment.

At the time of this posting, this position is a combination of remote and on-site. The employer may change this arrangement in order to comply with Public Health Guidelines.

Job Description:

  • Work with Senior Program Manager to run and support the Regent Park Community Living room community space
  • Act as community host creating and welcoming experience for all people entering the community living room and acting as guide to the events and programming offered
  • Co-create a vibrant welcoming community culture within the Community Living room and beyond
  • Offer tours of the space and programming
  • Troubleshoot community requests and facilitates their access to shared amenities within the Community Living room, including printers, computers, and internet connectivity
  • Support the day-to-day operations ensuring that supplies are fully stocked and ready for use, the space is beautiful, clean and organized and that office equipment are running smoothly at all times
  • Help with the delivery, promotion, sourcing, and coordination support for our organization’s programs
  • Help create, promote, and support community events
  • Set up and take down of programs and events in the space where needed
  • Play a role in building our organization’s culture and community by supporting the community in self-organizing events and attending community events as much as possible
  • Help us become more efficient by introducing and enhancing work processes and practices
  • Provide support with related duties as assigned and agreed upon

Covid-19 Update: This job will be located in the Community Living room physical space. However, during the pandemic, this role will allow for some virtual work. Approximately 30% of the time. Precautions have been implemented in all spaces and with all personnel. Comply with and inform members of all health and safety protocols and guidelines when accessing our buildings, which may include the use of PPE

Skills Required:

  • Experience building and supporting communities
  • Customer service experience
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and willingness to do whatever it takes to make the space and community great, pitching in and supporting the community no matter the task;
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks with a smile and a commitment to getting the job done
  • Interest in community development, community wealth, social change issues & a commitment to put people and the planet first
  • Ability to work in a team environment with diverse communities using an anti-oppressive lens
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously
  • Good typing, computer, oral and written communication skills
  • Comfortable using technology (office software tools, social media) and ready to learn new systems
  • Self-motivated – excited to contribute your own creativity to our space and programs
  • Working knowledge of Regent Park Community an asset
  • Harm reduction and de-escalation knowledge an asset
