Part time Consular Assistant

The Consulate of the
Republic of Benin in Toronto is currently looking to fulfill the part time
position of Consular Assistant at the Consular office located at: 192, Spadina
Avenue, Office 311, Toronto, Ontario, M5T 2C7

The Consular
Assistant operates office equipment and refills supplies as needed. Performs
various office administrative support duties, including mail handling, phone
answering, filing, and word processing as well as receiving the requests and
the claims addressed to the Consulate by Beninese living in the Consular
district of Ontario. The Consular Assistant needs to be physically present from
9:30 am to 4:00 PM in the building hosting the Consulate to answer the phone,
receive mail and accommodate walk-in requests from Beninese visiting the


  • Assist in the preparation of
    regularly scheduled reports
  • Set up and maintain manual and
    computerized consular archives
  • Liaise with the Honorary Consul to
    handle request and queries
  • Open and distribute incoming regular and
    electronic mail and other material
  • Greet visitors
  • Assist visitors with their concerns
  • Answer the phone and check the voicemail
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings and


  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
  • Familiar with the MS Office suit
  • Excellent
    computer skills
  • Experience setting up and maintaining manual
    and computerized information filing systems
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication
    skill in English
  • Basic knowledge of French is a plus
  • Capacity to type and proofread documents and
  • Prior political or public relations experience
    a must.
  • Lived in the GTA

This posting is
for an hourly part-time job. The flow of work can vary a lot over time. The
candidate may have another job with an organisation part of the CSI ecosystem.
