Position Title: Trainer, Digital Design and Facilitation

Hours: Full-time, 5 days a week (35 hours per week)

Start Date: October 2021 – March 31, 2022 with possibility of renewal after March at 2.5 days/week

Hourly Rate of Pay: $38.00

Reports To: Director of Strategic Initiatives

Position Summary

In the last year, NYCH has been developing our digital programming and we are currently creating a new hybrid (complementary online and in-person) model for service delivery. We are looking for a trainer with expertise in digital program design and development who can use what we’ve learned during the pandemic to help our team create this new model. The Trainer, Digital Design and Facilitation will work with staff to develop their skills in designing and facilitating engaging, online group programs, and using a variety of tools to do this work. This position will lead the development of our Moodle LMS so it is essential to have strong experience working with LMS as either a project or program manager.

Main responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, development and implementation of NYCH e-learning and hybrid models for current and new services, using learnings from shifting to online service in the past year plus best/new practices
  • Ensure NYCH’s digital learning system is user friendly for clients and courses are tailored to their needs
  • Train staff to use Moodle to design courses that enhance NYCH’s in-person services with online components
  • Support staff in adapting successful in-person courses to create engaging online versions/components
  • Provide support around content development as required
  • Build, and train staff on using, assessments and evaluations for online/hybrid courses
  • Provide recommendations for system/process improvements, including security and usability enhancements
  • Monitor quality of online courses and coordinate with staff to eliminate conflicting or redundant content and maximize usefulness for participant learners
  • Identify/recommend process to deliver, track training and measure performance of users
  • Create and update resources to train and support learners on how to use the technology for online and professional development
  • Develop course templates for ongoing staff use in designing courses for online and blended learning delivery
  • Together with Training Coordinator conduct staff training on the preparation and delivery of online content and e-assessment of learners, including facilitation tools and best practices
  • Implement effective coaching strategies with staff to ensure the team continues to improve and address any knowledge gaps through on the job training
  • Conduct train-the-trainer sessions in coaching others to design and deliver online/hybrid courses
  • Produce clear, accessible training material, including technical information and instructions for continued use

Required Experience, Skills and Competencies:

  • A degree/education that is relevant to the position
  • Proven experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), specifically Moodle in learning design and/or curriculum development (Moodle Educator Certification an asset)
  • Experience developing/implementing evaluation processes and tools for online learning programs
  • At least three years’ experience as a training practitioner/facilitator/educator
  • Proven experience in training design, training support, mentoring and coaching others to create online courses, groups and services
  • Ability to develop instructional guidebooks and training manuals
  • Previous experience in learning management system administration; technical competence to curate content for LMS
  • Excellent analytical and written communication skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with an ability to listen well and communicate new concepts clearly and effectively
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable and work effectively in and across teams
  • Solid interpersonal skills in developing constructive working relationships with staff and participant learners
  • Strong organization and planning skills, including managing work priorities and deadlines
  • Confidentiality and good judgement/problem solving skills
  • Critical thinking, analysis and problem solving – analyzing information with varying degrees of complexity and providing appropriate solutions
  • Strong grounding and understanding of challenges facing newcomers to Canada an asset

Additional Requirements

  • Successful clearance of a police reference check will be required
  • Candidates will be asked to declare their vaccination status during recruitment process. Successful candidates will be required to provide proof before or directly upon the start of their employment.

Working Conditions

  • Schedule will be arranged with supervisor
  • Currently work is remote/from home; travel may be required to NYCH and community sites, when in-person meetings are safe and permitted
